Microsoft is updating Teams with a snazzy new Calls layout in May 2021. One user tweeted about the new, simplified Calls layout he discovered within his Teams app. The new Calls layout has a new UI that brings calling history, contacts, and voicemail together. The big M is also adding interactive webinars and Power Live support to Teams in May.
Users discover Teams’ new Calls layout
The Twitter user Mr. Bolem was among the first Teams users to notice a new calling layout within the app. He tweeted about the changes on his Twitter page as follows: Other Teams users have been somewhat confused about the layout changes. One user posted on Microsoft’s forum about a strange Calls layout. That user wondered how to restore the original layout. An Independent Advisor on the forum replied:
The Calls layout changes
So, do not be alarmed if you are among those Teams users a little confused by Calls layout changes. Calls layout change designed to streamline and simplify calling has been on Microsoft’s roadmap. However, the big M has yet to make any official announcement about the new layout update. The new Calls layout seemingly delivers what Teams users have been crying out for. It streamlines calling by showing call history, contacts, and voicemail together. No longer do users need to switch between alternative tabs to find certain options. However, a new Calls layout is not the only thing Microsoft is introducing to the app. The big M is also rolling out PowerPoint Live and webinar support to Teams in May. Such features will enable users to host webinars with up to 1,000 attendees and utilize PowerPoint slides within Teams. So, Microsoft Teams keeps on getting better and better! Teams’ user base surge over the last year, partly due to the global pandemic, has no doubt prompted Microsoft to give that app a bit more attention than usual.
