Outside of the many developers, Microsoft shared HoloLens with several of its partners. One in particular is NASA, and we have seen what the company is planning to do with the device, proving that HoloLens could turn out to be a hit among consumers and the business community — we’ll just have to wait and see to what extent. Earlier, CEO of Microsoft Satya Nadella gave his keynote at WPC 2016. There, he spoke of mixed reality and how it will transform the way we use computers in the future. He also said HoloLens is available in a Developer Edition and Enterprise Edition. This caused a slight confusion among those in attendance, which prompted Microsoft to clear the air. Here’s what Satya Nadella had to say when asked about the HoloLens Enterprise Edition:
We did not announce new details at WPC this morning regarding Microsoft HoloLens. Commercial and enterprise partners, such as Japan Airlines, NASA, Case Western Reserve University and more, have ordered and deployed Microsoft HoloLens for some time now.
As it stands right now, there’s no separate HoloLens hardware strictly for enterprise. From what we can tell, there are two packages, one for developers and one for enterprise, but both devices are the same in every way. This might still be a bit confusing to some, but it’s not too surprising seeing as the software giant is not the best when it comes to delivering clear messages.
