What’s notable about the update is the addition of female avatars to the first-person shooter game for the first time. Developed by Infinity Ward in 2007, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare shunned female soldiers until 2013 with the launch of Call of Duty: Ghosts. Raven Software is responsible for both Modern Warfare Remastered and the new content. The video game company said:
New maps and game types
The update retains the last six of the original Modern Warfare maps and the new map set contains the following:
Bloc: Large Russian apartment bloc. Intense Domination matches. Countdown: Open launch pad. Huge sight lines and dangerous maneuvering. Pipeline: Russian train yard. Excellent team games. Showdown: Small desert arena. Great fast gameplay for small numbers of players. Strike: Large urban desert town. Excellent team games. Wet Work: Medium-large cargo ship. Fast-paced Search and Destroy matches.
During Modern Warfare’s original release, the Winter Crash version wasn’t available on consoles. Now the update brings with it the holiday-themed variant of the Crash map. Supply Drops also comes to Modern Warfare Remastered. It’s a feature of Call of Duty multiplayer that started with Advanced Warfare in 2014. Keep in mind that these new items are free through play, though players can also unlock them with Call of Duty Points. The update also introduces the Gun Game and Hardpoint game modes. Additionally, Modern Warfare Remastered also adds new melee weapons, animated calling cards, emblems, camos, character personalization items, and weapon customization pieces. With the new content, some users have suggested combining the Xbox One and Windows 10 multiplayer since the server in Modern Warfare doesn’t work on Windows 10. Meanwhile, other players hope for the merging of the Steam and Windows 10 multiplayer to level the field for players using mouse and keyboard and console.
