Developers are releasing their own concepts

While Microsoft is working on Fluent Design elements, more developers are trying out their own ideas in new concepts. Such a concept was just published on Reddit, and it shows us how File Explorer would look like with a dark theme and Fluent Design elements. Here’s what a Redditor says about Microsoft’s pace in developing new Fluent Design elements: In the photo published on Reddit, you can see the acrylic effect in the left pane that’s coupled with the dark gray on the right side which results in a mix that blends in with Windows 10’s revamped look that the tech giant has been working on for a while now.

User feedback

Redditors’ opinions vary, and while some of them don’t seem really impressed by the dark theme, others seem to appreciate it. For instance, one user said: Regarding Microsoft’s own dark theme that’s currently in the works, we’re not even sure if it will indeed be released in the next version of the OS this fall, so we’ll have to wait and see what Redmond is up to.
