We’re referring to build 16299 which is a new release that focuses on fixing errors and on stabilizing things. This is the first build since the release of build 16296 a few days ago. As you might have already imagined, there are no new front-facing features as Microsoft is extremely busy these days considering that it has to gear up for the public release of the Fall Creators Update which, by the way, is just around the corner. An issue where Insiders were experiencing was fixed, and the problem was that after upgrading to recent flights, their optical drive would not be listed under “This PC.” The update also managed to fix an issue where Microsoft Edge was crashing when you scrolled embedded PDFs. The last build found a solution for the issue that resulted in some Insiders seeing 0x80070005 when they were trying to upgrade to the last flights. The issue where using the Automatic File Download notification to block an application from downloading files was not working for UWP apps is now fortunately fixed as well. The last issue fixed by this build is the one that resulted in Windows Defender potentially downloading files selected to be online-only after you used the file picker dialog to view their thumbnails.
