A few Windows 10 Mobile users on Reddit managed to come across something very interesting after the release of an update for the Facebook Messenger beta app. Apparently, they saw voice and video call options in the chat interface, but the app would crash whenever the buttons were pressed. This is a clear sign that Facebook is making the moves to add these features in a future update, and it shouldn’t take very long before users get the chance to chat with their Facebook friends via voice or video. The ability to make video or voice calls via Facebook would be a boon for Windows 10 users and for Microsoft. Apps on the Windows Store in many ways have always been average when compared to the same apps on other platforms such as Android and iOS. How is it possible for Facebook to have a Windows 10 app that is has comparable features with its iOS counterpart? Well, the social network did not develop the app from scratch: the company probably took advantage of Microsoft’s Project Islandwood to port the Facebook app to Windows 10. In the future, we expect more developers to do the same, no doubt boosting the number of apps available on the Windows Store for both Windows 10 and Window 10 Mobile — assuming developers continue to turn their apps Universal.
