My printer won’t scan: How can I fix it?

3. Get the latest printer drivers from the manufacturer’s website

Look on the manufacturer’s website for a Windows 8 or Windows 10 compatible driver for the printer. If there is a new driver listed for your operating system, then uninstall the current one and install the latest one. Note: If you installed a new driver for the printer, reboot your OS and try again to see if you can scan a document.

4. Run the Printer Troubleshooter

If the problem persists, try running the built-in Printer Troubleshooter. On Windows 8.1, you can quickly locate this tool by opening the Control Panel. Type ‘troubleshoot’ in the search menu, select Troubleshooting and then select View All in the left-hand pane to list all the troubleshooting tools. Select and run the Printer troubleshooter. On Windows 10, simply go to Settings > Update & Security > select Troubleshoot > select and run the Printer troubleshooter, as shown in the screenshot below. SPONSORED
