That apart, Microsoft wants to help Groove Music users with the transition and it’s for this reason they have integrated a “Get Spotify” button. This feature is aimed at not only helping the Microsoft Groove users switch to Spotify, but also export all of their music collections and playlists to Spotify. However, if the music is not available in Spotify’s catalogue that will still not be accessible. The Get Spotify feature is already live for Groove Music users on Windows Insider for Windows 10.

How to shift your Groove Music to Spotify?

The question of the hour is how can one shift their Groove Music collection to Spotify. Before we proceed with the steps let me remind you this option will expire on January 31 2018. Also, if you cancel the subscription before December 31 Microsoft will be refunding the amount for the remainder of your subscription. Here’s how to switch from Groove Music to Spotify:

  1. Launch the latest Groove app

Ensure that the Groove Music app on your Windows 10 PC or Xbox One is updated to the latest version. Once you’ve signed into your account, a pop-up window will appear listing the instruction to follow in order to login or create a Spotify account. 2. Log in to your Spotify account If you already have a Spotify account, you’ll be prompted to login to your account. If you’re new to Spotify, you’ll be asked to create an account. 3. Transfer your music Once you’ve logged into your Spotify account, all you need to do is follow the onscreen instructions and link Groove Music to your Spotify account. There will be a new ‘Move my Music’ window that will appear on the screen. Simply click on the ‘Move music’ button and your music collection and playlists will automatically be moved from Groove Music to Spotify. 4. Play your music on Spotify

Once the transfer has completed, you can now listen to your favorite tracks on Spotify. That being said please note that it is not possible to transfer the Groove Music using a mobile or an Xbox. Once done with the transfer you will be signed in to the Spotify Free service, one that offers free streaming for 60-days. Post the free subscription users are free to upgrade to Spotify Premium. In the meanwhile, your Groove Music subscription fee will be refunded. The music on your OneDrive and the hard drive will remain intact and will still be playable with the Groove Music app. Microsoft has pulled the plugs from the Groove Music and starting from the end of this year users will not be able to stream, download or purchase music. This also comes as a huge blow to the Windows Phone users since the Spotify app on the Windows is riddled with problems. That being said, it’s not clear whether or not Microsoft will transfer the remainder of the subscription to Spotify and if the same holds good for the music that has already been purchased on the Groove Music. With the demise of Groove Music, one of the most missed features will be the ability to catalogue personal music collection from all online stores like iTunes or Google Play. Furthermore, it also lets users create their own personal online collection which could be stored on OneDrive. RELATED STORIES TO CHECK OUT:
