They were benchmarking the laptop and had to switch the MacBook Air to Windows 10 to run some tests. When they measured the screen brightness to adjust the battery benchmark, they found that the screen was 32% brighter. While they expected a value of little more than 400 nits in macOS, their benchmarking software showed almost 550 nits for Windows 10 (BootCamp). Precisely, the value for macOS was at 415 cd/m², and the one for Windows reached 547 cd/m². Sounds impossible, right? Not quite. The guys from Notebookcheck.net found that the screen was less color accurate on Windows 10. It’s possible that Apple limited the brightness on macOS from the start just to maintain color accuracy. They also listed  a couple of other possibilities: The bottom line is that the MacBook Air 2020’s screen on macOS is still extremely bright but if you use it with Windows 10, you will have a boost of brightness which is not bad at all, right?
