Naturally, the Xbox community has been in an uproar regarding the safety of their content ever since.  The problem is that as with any Terms of Service, be it that of a game or any other piece of software, many failed to actually read what are the conditions that may lead to your account being permanently deleted. Users speculated that bad language or the occasional ban might make your account an ideal target for deletion. Some have even stated that you need to be Silver ranked or higher to make sure your account is safe, or to at least have a minimum account balance. Because of this, Microsoft clearly stated that the purpose of this process is to simply eliminate any dead or duplicate accounts. As such, they wanted to make it clear that the only thing you need to do in order to keep your account is to log into it.

Microsoft will soon remove inactive Xbox accounts

The mass deletion will take place on August 30, 2019, and the main targets are accounts that have been inactive for the past two years.  This means that if you haven’t logged in since August 30, 2017, then you might want to pay your Xbox account a visit. Just in case you can’t log into your Xbox account, check out this troubleshooting guide to learn how to fix the problem. You don’t even have to do anything with it, just log in and that should be enough. More so, you have an unspent balance or an unpaid credit, your account is safe as these will not be targeted for deletion either. Family accounts will also be spared if at least one of the sub-accounts is active as well. Finally, users who published content on the Microsoft Store are the last people that should worry, since their accounts are protected indefinitely. RELATED POSTS:
