Whiteboard features touch-based handwriting and shape recognition for natural drawing and sketching. The application also supports both fingers and digital pens for simultaneous writing. Users can also extract web content, videos and other media files from local and online sources. The app also works in real time with a Collaboration space in OneNote Class Notebook. This lets teachers and students integrate Whiteboard into an existing Microsoft learning management system. Most schools and universities supported by Microsoft already run the LMS, which will enable a seamless flow of data in the classroom. Additionally, the integration will support the School Data Sync and the Microsoft Classroom web and mobile apps for students to manage their assignments, for instance. Microsoft first introduced Whiteboard to students and teachers in June 2016. The app is designed to let educators and students develop and collaborate on ideas together on a large screen. The interactive platform combines a whiteboard experience with multiple Windows machines. It’s compatible with any Windows 10 PC since the application uses the x86 architecture. Microsoft’s Ink Workspace already offers a built-in whiteboard app and it’s unclear how the new Microsoft Whiteboard is any different. Microsoft Whiteboard is available to download in select territories at the moment. Some users are also reporting that the app is not working on their PC, though it seems to be running on Windows 10 Build 14393.479.
