Back in 2015 Microsoft experienced the same problem and the company implemented privacy controls into the Xbox One that allow users to use the ability to choose only to receive messages from certain friends by updating the privacy settings.
Spam bots attack Xbox Live
The thread begins by warning users about the wave of spam bots that flood random Xbox Live users with weird messages. You are advised not to follow any links from those messages. It looks like Microsoft was already contacted about this whole issue and the company is well-aware of the problem. The company is currently working all night and day to fix the problem. Meanwhile, Xbox Live users are recommended that in case they get this type of spam messages to report them themselves. If it happens to you, you must report the message itself and not the account, and you must do this from within the Xbox, and finally, you have to block the user that sent it to you to prevent future spamming. The bots usually start by saying ‘Hi’ and no matter what you say, most of them will continue the conversation trying to get you to send them your credit card information to verify your age and to gain access to their private cam site. The thread also states the fact that such spamming pops up a couple of times every year and Microsoft usually gets rid pretty quickly of the problems.
