This is part of Microsoft’s standard build testing process. The software giant wants to detect and fix any major issues that the Creators Update might bring and for this reason, will roll out the RTM build in waves. This is exactly the same strategy the company used to release the Anniversary Update last August. Selecting the perfect RTM build candidate is only the beginning. Once this is done, the company will focus mainly on squashing the bugs reported by Insiders. The Creators Update arrives on Windows 10 Mobile and Xbox One a few weeks after the OS becomes available on PCs.

Windows 10 version 1703

As a quick reminder, Microsoft recently confirmed that the version number for the Creators Update will be 1703, removing the 1607 version number of the Anniversary Update. The version number refers to the compilation date, not the release date. This piece of information confirms once again that Microsoft is planning to compile the Creators Update this month. Dona Sarkar’s team likes to push out Windows 10 builds on Fridays in order to keep Insiders busy over the weekend. Taking into account this detail, it’s quite possible that Microsoft will release a new build this Friday March 17th, which marks the beginning of the sign-off process.
