People who noticed this drop begun to suspect their devices were shipped with defective SIMPLO batteries. However, Microsoft denied these claims by saying that the issues with battery in Surface Pro 3 can be solved with a software fix. The company promised a fixing update, but we’re still waiting for it. Microsoft posted a message on the Community forums where it confirmed that the battery issue in certain Surface Pro 3 devices is indeed caused by a software problem, and that the fixing update is currently being tested internally. As soon as Microsoft finishes internal testes, it should start pushing the update all affected Surface Pro 3 devices. Here’s what Microsoft said: We don’t know when exactly will Microsoft release this update to Surface Pro 3 users affected by this problem, but we’re going to get you updated as soon as we have more info.
