Mehdi added that in order to install Windows 10 on a computer, users will need to “give explicit permission” to install the upgrade. He agrees that some of these statements caused confusion, quickly assuring us that the new OS won’t auto-install without a prior warning. However, Mehdi did say that those who installed Windows 10 on their computers can rollback to the previous version within a 31-day period. The rollback procedure is quite simple bringing you back to the previous OS exactly as you left it due to Microsoft keeping the state of the machine intact. Currently, Windows 10 is automatically set to “Recommended Updates” by default, meaning that it will get installed if you set your computer without your explicit permission. The free Windows 10 upgrade will be available until July 29, 2016. When Mehdi was asked about what would happen after this date, he replied that the company is still trying to figure out what its exact plans after this are. However, in the end, he mentioned more information will be released as the date gets closer.
