Mr. Sams discussed Microsoft’s hardware roadmap in a video. There he refers to document content, from the Myseron era, that leaks Microsoft hardware due for launch within the next couple of years. Mr. Sams states that the document content highlights Microsoft will launch a new series of Xbox products in 2020, which is otherwise codenamed Scarlett. If that is the case, Microsoft might release the next generation Xbox a little sooner than anticipated. The company only launched the Xbox One X in November 2017. However, Microsoft is moving ahead with new consoles more quickly than it used to. Aside from the next Xbox, Mr. Sams states that his content also mentions a 2018 launch for Andromeda. Andromeda is the codename for a new mobile device that Microsoft reputedly has under wraps. The rumor mill suggests Andromeda could be a foldable Surface Phone with two displays. Thus, that device might be a 2-in-1 one phone and tablet based on a modular Windows Core OS.

Microsoft has filed numerous patents for Andromeda. One of those patents is for a foldable device with a third display on its hinge that connects the other primary displays. In addition, one unofficial design concept for Andromeda illustrates that the device could be a 3-in-1 laptop, phone and tablet.

If Mr. Sams is right about a 2018 Andromeda release, we can expect Microsoft to announce its foldable mobile device within the next three or four months. Then the company could launch Andromeda in the final months of the year. As Microsoft has not confirmed Andromeda as of yet, a quarter four release date is the most probable 2018 launch period for it. So, Microsoft is seemingly cooking up some pretty big hardware. Andromeda could be an entirely new category of mobile device. You can check out this article for further details pertaining to the upcoming Andromeda. RELATED STORIES TO CHECK OUT:
