The chromium-based browser will soon offer a smart Pinterest integration that makes the Collections feature even more powerful. The company announced other Edge capabilities targeted at all users, from developers and IT professionals to workers. The enhancements touch on areas like browser privacy, utility, and data security.
New Edge features include Pinterest and Collections integration
The purpose of this improvement is to enable you to become more productive with Collections in Edge. If you usually use the feature to organize content, integration with Pinterest should enable you to get what you want much quicker.
Sidebar search
Microsoft Build 2020 has another surprise addition to Edge. That is the ability to search without switching tabs. The search results simply display on a side pane. To look up any phrase or word online, highlight and right click it. The context menu that comes up includes the option to search in sidebar.
Data security
Windows Information Protection in Edge adds a vital security layer. The idea is to separate official files from company data within the browser. With this feature, Microsoft is targeting IT professionals using Windows 10.
Switching user profiles in Edge
More than three weeks ago in April, Microsoft announced that it was updating Edge with the ability to automatically switch between user profiles. It has kept that promise. If you try to access a work account from your laptop at home, you may sometimes be in your personal Edge profile without even knowing it. So now, the browser prevents that by alerting and prompting you to change to the right profile. Some of these features, such as the new Collections, are rolling out slowly.
