As a collaboration tool that both individuals and organizations use to work and share documents, videos, ideas, and more, and also given the current work-from-home situation, SharePoint has doubled in popularity since last year. As such, the platform has reached over 200 million daily users per month, as announced by one of Microsoft’s corporate VPs.

SharePoint’s bright present & future

Currently, SharePoint allows for convenient document management and collaboration solution across all Microsoft 365 suite. That includes the Office 365 suite, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Lists, Microsoft Stream, or Yammer. The Leader distinction, which comes for the fourth year in a row, is surely encouraging for the developers to keep improving the app so that it continues its smooth ascent in the near future. According to the Gartner numbers, those working in SharePoint highly appreciate the ease of document creation and sharing or communicating the status of various projects, as well as the integration of a whole pack of apps. On the other hand, data migration or integration with other programs outside Microsoft is more complicated. However, the Microsoft official has added that user feedback has played an important role in the latest developments so it’s expected that future improvements will take such reviews into consideration as well. The latest SharePoint releases include Syntex, a tool that uses advanced AI and machine teaching to automate content processing, and Project Cortex, a technology that used existing data and then applies AI to change the way it is processed.
