Steam will require users to run the latest Windows security and feature updates which are not available for Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Enjoy gaming on Steam while you can
Windows XP and Windows Vista users will still be able to purchase and play games via Steam for the rest of this year, but the New Year’s Eve will bring the death of support for these operating systems. Another sad news is that even if they can play games and buy new ones via Steam by the end of 2018, users will not be able to access any new features that are launched.
Steam Client will not run on the older Windows versions
Steam announced that they would end support for Windows Vista and XP after the Steam Client stops running on these OSs. They also said that in order to continue buying games and products from Steam and running them, you would have to update to a more recent version of Windows. Valve says that new features such as Steam Chat are not available anymore for users of these older versions of Windows and they basically encourage everyone to update their systems. We’re also advising our readers to update their operating system to a newer version in order to be able to enjoy the latest security updates to protect their computers but also to be able to use their favorite gaming services and more.
