The pioneer of this idea is a tech hacker Tmsix who was able to get Windows 10 on ARM to run on a Lumia 950 prototype. After the news broke out, more and more users became curious about the process involving the installation of Windows 10 on ARM on their Lumia phones. Now, they’re getting some great news.
The UEFI bootloader will become available
Hikari Calyx, the individual who unveiled Tmsix’s achievement, made another exciting announcement, saying that he’ll share the UEFI bootloader with everyone interested on his Telegram channel.
Kids, don’t try this at home (unless you’re experienced enough)
Users shouldn’t hurry to try this themselves unless they have advanced tech expertise. Windows 10 on ARM is not designed for phones with small screens. Another handy thing to know is that the operating system is enhanced for devices that are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 CPU. You should also be aware of the fact that the OS lacks Windows 10 Mobile’s phone stack and this means that installing it on a Windows phone triggers the necessity to give up lots of traditional phone features.
No transition from Windows 10 on Mobile to Windows 10 on ARM
The company probably had a good reason for which this was not planned. Joe Belfiore said that the whole Windows 10 on ARM is a desktop PC experience rather than a phone experience. We have to admit that this whole idea is quite fascinating, but we don’t know if it’s also a viable one. This doesn’t mean that experienced developers can’t try all kinds of new adventures involving Windows phones. RELATED STORIES TO CHECK OUT:
