The latest update is available to Windows insiders in the Fast ring. Apart from that, it brings only two changes. One is a Downloads folder update, while the other improves your login logic. The build doesn’t bear any fixes.

Windows 10 build 19640 improvements

It appears that insiders had raised concerns about the way Storage Sense deletes files in any Downloads folder synced to a cloud service. According to build 19640 release notes, the disk cleanup tool will no longer offer the option to automatically remove downloaded files from the folder on a cycle. Storage Sense is still a work in progress, so it’s good to see Microsoft improving it step by step. The app should succeed the Windows Disk Cleanup tool, which hasn’t been getting a lot of love from the Redmond-based company lately. On the other hand, the login update is more of a quality of life boost than a mission-critical functional enhancement. It makes sense, though, since anyone can mistype their username by including a space before it. It seems that, if you make that mistake while signing in, the new authentication logic will quietly remove the space. Obviously, you’ll still get an error if you have a space between any characters in your username! If you’re a Fast ring insider, have you downloaded Windows 10 build 19640 yet?
