Another notable change is the huge improvement of Microsoft’s own browser, Edge. Microsoft actually tested the speed of Microsoft Edge compared to Chrome, and results were impressive for the browser which is still in developing phase:
On WebKit Sunspider, Edge is 112% faster than Chrome On Google Octane, Edge is 11% faster than Chrome On Apple JetStream, Edge is 37% faster than Chrome
The SunSpider 1.0.2 testing results show that the new version of Edge in build 10240 is 1.4 times faster than the version of Edge in the previous build, 10166. This version of Edge is also faster than Chrome even when it comes to JavaScript performance. Reportedly, Microsoft’s browser is 2.57 faster in this area than Chrome. This build has been released to both Fast Ring and Slow Ring users and you can download it through Windows Update. Since this is probably the RTM version of Windows 10, we don’t expect any bigger changes until the release. Only thing Microsoft could do more is fixing a couple of minor, final bugs. Besides removing the watermark and improving Edge’s performance, we didn’t notice any other changes in this build. So if you noticed something we missed, feel free to tell us in the comments, I’m sure our readers would love to know all available details about this ‘special’ Windows 10 Technical Preview build.
