As we suggested, the reality is different and this has been confirmed by the latest figures provided by NetMarketShare. According to this website, Windows 10 has indeed registered a 1.71% market share increase in June, and now has a 19.14% market share, up from the 17.43% market share available at the beginning of June. It appears that Microsoft’s latest OS has a steady monthly market share increase of around 2% judging by the figures provided NetMarketShare: Windows 10 had a 15,34% market share in April, 17,43% in June, and 19.14% in July. Although the mass-upgrade to Windows 10 predicted by analysts is nowhere to be seen yet, Microsoft has its way as its latest OS is slowly but surely gaining more percentage points in market share. Windows 7 no longer controls half of the desktop OS market share, as it now has a 49.05% market share, but Windows XP still remains the third most popular OS with a 9.78% market share. It will be interesting to see how Windows 10’s market share evolves as the Anniversary Update is drawing nearer. Will Windows users transition to Windows 10 in order to benefit from the free update offer or will they dig their heels in and stick to Windows 7? One thing is sure: Microsoft will continue to deploy every method it can concoct to convince users to upgrade. The latest method displays a full screen upgrade reminder, making the Windows 10 upgrade window extremely visible to users. RELATED STORIES YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT:
