The rumored updates are Redstone 2 and Redstone 3. We’ve heard that one will focus more on the mobile side of things, while the other will tend to the desktop. We expect Redstone 2 to be the mobile centric update designed to make Windows 10 Mobile competitive as an operating system. We should also hear more about the rumored Surface Phone as well, but expect that before the release of Redstone 2. Furthermore, it should be noted that the Windows 10 Anniversary Update is the final major update of 2016. This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise seeing as Microsoft has been working on making this update possible since 2015. Here’s what Mercer had to say via a blog post: Redstone 2 is expected in the early parts of 2017, while Redstone 3 should be released around August to September of the same year.
