The Redmond giant has made it clear that from now onwards, Windows 10users will only receive Windows 10 full cumulative updates and express updates. Notably, the last delta update will be rolled out on April 9. From that day on, Microsoft will no longer release these updates for Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809). According to Microsoft’s schedule, April 9 will be the last delta update roll out. As stated above, the company will go forward with express updates and full cumulative updates only. The delta updates are comprised of a smaller package with exclusive changes.

Types of Windows 10 updates

If you are unaware regarding the three types of updates, Microsoft’s devices receive express updates, full updates and delta updates. The OS uses several historical bases so that each component in the full update receives differential downloads. Secondly, all the required changed components are available in the full updates. Alternatively, the delta updates have the full component so they come with a comparatively large download size.  Most of the users preferred delta updates as it only bring the changed components from the previous releases. They got rid of installing a new full cumulative update on an up to date system.

Benefits of express updates

As a matter of fact, express updates will be beneficial for all Windows users in terms of the download size. Your system will now be able to identify optimal differentials while downloading the updates. The network protocol will be used for that purpose. The express updates will be reduced to a monthly download of 150-200 MB for an updated device.  It is worth mentioning that the company has warned  Windows 10 users about the retirement plans for the delta updates in the recent KB articles.  What do you think about Microsoft’s decision?
